For it is by the grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no man can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

  Our Vision
It is the vision of First Baptist Church of Los Fresnos to bring glory to God through missions and ministry to our multi-ethnic body of Believers, community, and world as modeled by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

Recognizing the cultural diversity of our surrounding community, our Mission is focused on and driven from Matthew 28:19 - "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations."

We design our ministries and programs to maximize the discipleship process in the lives of people to whom we minister.  Our intent is to minister to all people in our community, both English and Spanish speaking.  Our focus is to reach the English speaking population, especially young Hispanic families.

We evangelize and disciple people. We minister to people in the name of Jesus Christ. We encourage fellowship with other Believers. We promote Worship with Adoration and Praise to the Lord.

Our Core Values

God-Centered-
We believe that God is the head of First Baptist Church Los Fresnos and we belong to Him. Our aspiration in everything we do is to glorify God, His son Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit. We believe that God through His Holy Spirit guides and empowers our lives.  We seek to experience God’s presence and power in all we do. (Matt 22:36-38, Rom. 8: 14-15, 1 Cor. 10: 31.)
Bible-Based-
We believe the Bible is God’s Holy Word.  We believe it is divinely inspired and it provides direction and purpose for our daily lives.  It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. We believe that God’s Word must permeate all that we teach and do.   As we encourage individual Bible study and provide opportunities within our program, we challenge our congregation to think deeply and intelligently about the Bible and its history and content.  We believe that the criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ under the direction of the Holy Spirit.  (Psalm 119: 104-106, John 1: 1-18, Rom.1: 16-18.)
Salvation by Grace Through Faith-
We believe in Salvation by grace though faith. We believe a person must first realize that he or she is "lost"--totally estranged from God, separated from God by a sinful nature.  A person alone cannot reconcile the lost relationship between himself or herself and God. To provide a remedy, God sent His only Son, Jesus, to live the perfect life God demands.  Although humanity through sin has separated itself from God, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross bridged that gap.  All that God asks is that a man or woman repent of his or her sins, turn from them and accept the sacrifice Christ made on the cross for those sins.  God promises in the Holy Bible that anyone who accepts Christ as Savior shall be saved.  We believe that a person who accepts Christ as Savior should also follow Him in believer's baptism by immersion and join the fellowship of a local Baptist church.
(Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9, Romans 10:19, Romans10:13) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9not by works, so that no one can boast. (Eph. 2:8-9)
Worship-Centered
We believe in order to truly worship in spirit and truth, there should be spiritual unity among the people.  We believe the priority of worship is to glorify God and draw people of the congregation into the presence of the Holy Father in a style that is culturally relevant. Worship includes the power of Christ’s presence and the Holy Spirit in a gathered community of disciples.  True worship draws people to the message of the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  Elements of worship should include: Praise, Thanksgiving, Worship and Adoration, Confession, Repentance, Prayer, Study of God’s Word, and Response for all the people (John 4:23, Heb. 10:25, Matt 18:20, 1Cor 5:4, Psalm 95:6).
Prayer-Minded-
We believe that prayer is the channel through which we communicate with God.  Through active prayer lives, we seek to experience a personal relationship with God and discover His will and direction for our lives.  We believe in praying for others, those who are sick, those who are hurting, those who need God’s love, and prayers of thanksgiving. (Mark 11: 22-26, Eph. 6: 18, James 5: 16.)
Obedient-Minded-
We believe that every Christian should be obedient-minded.  The Bible views disobedience as a failure to hear and do God’s Word.  Jesus warned, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear”. Obedience is essential to worship. Obedience of faith brings about salvation. Obedience secures God’s blessings.  A life of obedience to God is the fruit of faith. True obedience means imitating God in holiness, humility, and love. True disciples do the will of God. (Ps. 81:11, Mat. 7:21,  Matt. 11:15, Rom. 1:5, 10:16-17, John 14:23; 1 John 2:17; Rev. 22:14, James 2:21-26, 1 Pet. 1:15; Phil. 2:5-8. John 13:34.)
Discipleship-Minded-
We believe that more spiritually mature Christians should mentor younger believers and help them grow toward spiritual maturity.  We encourage all Christians to seek learning opportunities on a continual basis in order to grow in their faith. We provide learning opportunities for all.  We realize discipleship involves growth, knowledge, and commitment. (Luke 9:23-27, 14:25-33, John 8:31-32).
Kingdom-Building-
We believe that God’s work is far greater than our church or community.  We are charged to assume our place in the advancement of His kingdom in turning the hearts of our world toward Christ.  We want to be a blessing to His greater work by sharing our resources, starting new churches and helping hurting ones, and sending out servants to minister.  We rejoice in making a difference in the lives of others. We believe the full consummation of the Kingdom awaits the return of Jesus Christ in the end of this age. (Matt 9:36-38, 28:18-20, John 15:7-17, Acts 1:8).
Outreach-Focused-
We believe that God built His church on earth to further His Kingdom. We recognize that God’s grace and love are offered freely for all to accept. We believe that Jesus’s command in Matthew 28: 19 speaks to all believers; therefore, reaching the lost in our community and world is of high priority with us.  We welcome all people, as we believe we are called by God to be stewards of our community. (Matt. 11:28-29, Rom. 3: 22-24, 12:13.)
Stewardship-Committed-
We believe that God is the ultimate source of all blessings; all that we have and are, we owe to Him.  We are called to serve Him through sharing of our gifts, talents, time, and personal resources.  According to the Scriptures, Christians should contribute of their means cheerfully, regularly, systematically, proportionately, and liberally for the advancement of the Redeemer’s cause on earth. (Lev. 27:30-33, Mal. 3:7-12, Luke 19:12-26).
Relationship-Oriented-
We believe that God’s children need a place of fellowship where they feel they belong.  We desire and commit to make our Sunday School program our church nucleus for meeting that need. We encourage all ages to be involved as we offer a variety of Bible Study classes with opportunities for fellowship and building relationships. We believe we must also remain vigilant, and offer other opportunities for small groups and ministry teams, as our congregational needs change. We strive for unity by staying focused on loving God and each other. ( 1 John 1:7, 4: 7-11, Rom. 12: 4-5.)
Family-Focused-
We believe that First Baptist Church can be a vital part of helping to build healthy marriages and families. We define "marriage" as the holy union of one man and one woman.  Our goal, therefore, is to enable families to live righteously, lovingly, and justly with each other and to bear witness to the work of God in our lives.  It is, as we love one another we show the world what God is like.  We believe the teachings of Jesus urges us to embrace others as family as well.  When we choose to follow Christ, we recognize we have family within the community of faith. The work of our church is to weave every believer into bonds of mutual commitment and love.  We encourage every family to provide for their daily prayer and Bible reading time. (Acts 10:2, Mark 10: 6-9,14, Pro. 23:24, Ps. 128:3, Matthew 12: 48-50, Genesis 2:20-25.)
Sanctity of life-
We believe in the sanctity of life and encourage our members and others to view the Scripture on the sacredness and dignity of all human life, both born and unborn, and support legislation prohibiting abortion and euthanasia. We affirm that all human life is created by God, from conception through natural death, and therefore is precious. (Psalm 139: 13-16.)
